Important information about registration, payments, participation, safety and club operations at the
Delta Skating Club.
Please review the policies that apply to your
skater’s program before registering.
Before You Register
Please take a few minutes to review the policies below. By registering with the Delta Skating Club, you agree to our policies and procedures.
Registration & Payments
Payment is accepted via cheque, Visa/Mastercard, or Paypal (in Canadian Funds). Payment via cash (in Canadian Funds) accepted only upon special arrangement with the Club Administrator and a second Board member, preferably the Treasurer.
Cash payments must be witnessed by two Board members, preferably the Club Administrator and Treasurer. A written receipt, with the signatures of the two members, must be provided at the time of the transaction to the payee. A copy of the receipt is to remain with the club as proof of payment.
For cash or cheque payments the invoice number of the completed Uplifter registration must be included.

NSF cheques/Declined Credit card payments will be subject to a $35 fee and ice privileges may be suspended until the issue is resolved.
Payments are due as scheduled. Any missed or outstanding payments will result in the suspension of ice time and inability to register in further sessions until the issue is resolved. Outstanding accounts will also be charged an administration fee of $50 per season.
Delta Skating Club offers ON GOING registration. If a session has started and there is still room available, fees will be pro-rated for the classes missed.
When registering in a skating program at our club, skaters are required to also become a member of Skate Canada. This annual fee is valid from Sept 1st to August 31st. The fee is required to be paid pay it once during the year, regardless of number of registered sessions. The fee includes insurance coverage, along with access to all Skate Canada programs. This fee is submitted by the club to Skate Canada in Ottawa. This fee is a non-refundable fee after the first class. For more information about Skate Canada, visit www.skatecanada.ca
In order to maintain skater membership with the Club, Skaters must be registered in a minimum of ONE session per week for the duration of the fall/winter/spring season.
Registration occurs on a first come, first served basis. Once a session has reached capacity no further registrations will be permitted for that session.
In order to compete at regional, sectional or national level, a skaters primary coach must be under contract with Delta Skating Club at the time of the competition.
All skaters must register online through the Delta Skating Club website using the online registration system: Uplifter, which is the preferred skating club management system and online registration system by Skate Canada
International Skaters have to pay a deposit prior to stepping on the ice for their first session for any Junior or higher sessions. A $100 deposit is required for per week that the skater is skating at the DSC. EG. 6 weeks requires $600 deposit. If all invoices to coaches have been paid before the skater leaves the club then the deposit will be returned.
Upon completion of payment a receipt will be sent via email. All transaction history and Tax Credit receipts are available on Uplifter in “My Order History”. Tax receipts are issued in the name of the person who made the payment for each participant enrolled in Delta Skating programs.
Additional to the general terms and conditions, members will be required to accept the Delta Skating Club policies as required by each particular program during the registration process.
Refunds & Cancelations
Registration fees are paid for a class spot for the entire season, regardless of attendance. There are no makeup sessions for missed classses unless approved by the coach. If approved the makeup class must be for the same type of class (45-minute open for a 45-minute open). Also, the makeup class must be within the same season or term if multiple terms within a season and can’t be made-up over bridge ice.
PreCanskate, CanSkate, Powerskating, Rising Star Academy, and Synchronized Skating: No refunds or credit will be issued after the second scheduled class unless in the case of medical circumstances. Requests for credit can be made in writing with a doctor’s note to the Club Administrator. No refunds, only credit to the member’s account. Credit will be pro-rated from the date of the medical documentation.
StarSkate and Podium Pathway (on ice and off ice): No refunds or credit will be issued after the first scheduled class unless in the case of medical circumstances. Requests for credit can be made in writing with a doctor’s note to the Club Administrator. No refunds, only credit to the member’s account. Credit will be pro-rated from the date of the medical documentation. An administration/processing fee of $25 will apply.
24 hours’ notice to the coach for cancellation of private lessons is required; unless in the event of an emergency (e.g. car accident, medical emergency, etc). Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a lesson fee charge.
The Skate Canada fee and Fundraising fee are NON-Refundable after the first class.
The Delta Skating Club is not responsible for cancellation of classes due to unavailable ice, severe weather or other circumstances beyond the control of the club.
Financial Assistance is Avaliable
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to skate. KidSport and Jumpstart may be able to help with registration fees.
Club Participation
Delta Skating Club is a non profit club and fundraising contributions help maintaing affordable programming and enhance opportunities for all skaters.
Each family is expected to support the Club’s two annual fundraising efforts:
- FALL – September – Purdy’s Chocolate Bar Sale
- Each CanSkate/PowerSkate family will be required to purchase 5 chocolate bars at a total of $15.
- Each Rising Star/STARSkate/Synchronized Skater family will be required to purchase 15 chocolate bars at a total of $45.
- Families can sell the bars to friends and neighbors for $3/bar and recoup the cost of the bars.
- Cost of the bars are added to the skater’s fall registration.
- SPRING – May – Dairy Queen Blizzard Punchcard Sale

The board will consider requests for exemption, accommodation, or modification of fundraising obligations due to financial hardship or exceptional circumstances. Requests must be submitted in writing to the board and will be handled confidentially and individually.
Skaters in the Synchro, Rising Star Academy and Star program are required to complete a designated number of volunteer hours each year. These hours will need to be completed during the year from September 1 to August 31 of the following year.

Skaters may buy-on sessions that they are not registered in for providing they have a current Skate Canada membership, and BC/YK insurance. Proof of registration is required.
Note: Buy ons will not be permitted where the session is full*
Out of club skaters must have the approval of the Program Director to qualify for buy ons for sessions.
Uplifter registration via the Delta Skating Club website must be completed for Buy on sessions
Coaches (Out-of-club)
Out of club Coaches must obtain approval from the Director of Programs before accessing Delta Skating Club ice. Coaches seeking approval must provide proof of being in good standing with Skate Canada. Upon approval, the Director of Programs is responsible for informing the Delta Skating Club’s Board of Directors about the presence of out-of-club coaches on club ice.
Program & Rink Conduct
Parents and guardians must remain in designated spectator areas and stay clear of benches, gates and rink access points while programs are running.
All programs will be delivered as set forth within Skate Canada program guides and RuleBook.
All programs will take place at the location indicated in the program registration.
Delta Skating Club requires each Program Coordinator for CanSkate, StarSkate, CanPowerSkate, Synchronized skating program to hold a parent/skater information session at least once per season. The club will make available Skater and Parent Handbooks.

A Member’s membership may be suspended in accordance with Skate Canada’s policies and procedures relating to the discipline of Members.
A Registrant may be suspended or expelled from Skate Canada in accordance with Skate Canada’s policies and procedures relating to the discipline of Registrants.
Privacy & Administration
The Delta Skating Club is committed to protecting the privacy of all member personal information. Any information given to us will be held with extreme care and will not be used in a way that has not been consented to.
The club does not sell or distribute any personal information with any other organization, user group, or third party other than Skate Canada.
The club web site does not automatically gather any specific personal information, such as name, phone number or email address. We only obtain this type of information if supplied by the member via e-mail or by registering in the members’ only registration portion of the site.
Information collected during registration must be used to register skaters with Skate Canada, our Sport Governing Body.
Transactions made to the Delta Skating Club are for skating services rendered by the club. Delivery of these services is outlined on our website and subject to the session, dates, times and location indicated on your application. We do not export any goods or services.
